Smart Waste - Feasibility Study
The subject of the study was an examination of the possibilities for improving the existing waste management system, reducing costs, increasing efficiency and increasing profits. In addition to the economic motives, a significant driving factor was also the improvement of waste management, which would, in turn, increase the protection of the environment.
By monitoring the availability of bins, it is possible to plan routes of the vehicles for discharging full bins without unnecessarily going to places of empty or half-empty bins, which would reduce fuel consumption and vehicle wearing (depreciation), and increase the effective work of workers and drivers. In addition, the company would have information on the possible disposal of recyclable waste, and could make the recasting of unprofitable and uneconomic placement courts. The aim of the study was to propose the introduction of the IoT concept in order to improve the waste management system.
