Innovation Incubator
Turning a good technical idea into a real startup requires much more than scientific or engineering knowledge. Young teams need to understand the problem they are solving, test whether the market needs their solution, protect their intellectual property, communicate with users and investors, and learn how to build a sustainable business model. The Innovation Incubator was established to guide students, researchers, academic staff and innovation teams through early stages of development — from the first idea to a validated technology-based concept ready for further growth.
Since its establishment, the Innovation Incubator has contributed to the strengthening of entrepreneurial culture at the School of Electrical Engineering – University of Belgrade, through intensive work with startup teams, numerous educational and promotional activities, and active cooperation with relevant stakeholders in the innovation ecosystem.
The Innovation Incubator helps teams move from technical potential toward a clearer startup direction. Through a combination of education, mentoring and practical work, participants are guided to examine the problem they want to solve, understand their users and market, and shape their solution into a viable product or service. Along the way, they receive support in areas that are essential for early-stage startups, including technology development, intellectual property, business modelling, financing, pitching and communication with potential partners, customers and investors. In this way, the Incubator does not only provide individual events or training sessions, but creates a structured environment in which students, researchers and innovation teams can gradually build the knowledge, confidence and connections needed to take their ideas further.
In the last programme round, more than 650 participants have received training through lectures and workshops, and support for 16 startup teams has been provided in the pre-seed stage.
