Regional IoT Hub for Digital Production

Digital production and IoT technologies are becoming increasingly important for the modernization of industry, especially for companies that want to improve efficiency, introduce smarter processes and connect products, equipment and data into more advanced digital systems. The HUBTECS project, funded through the Horizon 2020 programme, focused on assessing the feasibility of establishing a regional hub for digital production with a particular focus on IoT.

The project included an analysis of the regional IoT ecosystem, with the aim of understanding existing capacities, relevant stakeholders, market needs and opportunities for stronger cooperation between science and industry. As part of this process, a database of potential ecosystem members was created, including organizations, companies and institutions that could contribute to or benefit from the future hub.

In addition to ecosystem mapping, the project developed a science-industry case study and prepared a business plan for the proposed hub. Cooperation with ecosystem members was also established, creating a foundation for future activities in digital production, IoT-based innovation and technology transfer. In this way, HUBTECS contributed to building a clearer understanding of the regional potential for digital transformation and to preparing the ground for more structured support to companies interested in Industry 4.0 and IoT solutions.
